Production Information
Sound System
Specification DJ Rider's (and it's various previous incarnations) has been famous for the level of its production infrastructure and personnel. DJ Rider's is considered one the best places to put on a live show anywhere on Long Island. Our sound system is one that is unrivaled by any venue of our size. The system has state of the art loudspeakers manufactured by Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) which is also used by many touring bands. If you have been to Madison Square Garden and seen a concert, you probably heard it through an EAW loudspeaker system. Our power amplifiers are all Crown , and we have over 8000 watts just for the mains and another 3000 watts available for stage monitors. Now this isn't just to make it loud, but instead to make the music crystal clear as well. Most bars our size have less than 1000 watts total, which in our opinion is not even near what is needed. But we have made a $50,000 investment (and continue to upgrade) while other venues refuse to do the same or anything close. And that's because we want the music to be presented to you, the audience, the best way it can be. And if your a musician who hopes to play a show at DJ Rider's, you can come here knowing you will never sound better ... anywhere. That's a guarantee! And it doesn't stop there. DJ Rider has up'ed the anty so to speak. Since he is also a band leader (Fallin Angel, The Pet Clams) he knows what it's like to play a venue with a lousy sound system, no stage, and no lights. He knows this is norm these days and he hates it. He has instituted and upgrade policy working closely with the in-house staff to upgrade and improve all the venues musical infrastructure. "Nothing but the best" is DJ Rider's mantra! The first improvement made to the venue once he took over was to rebuild the stage. Gone are the ice machine and tiny little drum riser. And you could safely put a truck on this now very solid stage. Other capital improvents to the sound system itself will soon include the investment into a Midas mixing console (finest live consoles in the world), upgraded monitor system, customized cabling systems, and a major upgrade of our already extensive microphone collection. He also plans on installing a full concert type lighting system. Another unique feature of DJ Rider's is our new capbility to provide artists with full 24 track live recording and post production. We use Pro-Tools on Macintosh G5 and our post production suite uses processing by Solid State Logic. This ain't no board mix burned onto a CD folks. This is the real deal. Any band wanting to use this sevice of course must pay our very resonable rates and pre-production planning must be done. So don't think you can just walk in ask for this. It must planned way in advance of your show. Our production staff is headed up by our senior in-house engineer John LeVasseur of JRL Audio Consultants. John has been invovled in mixing live music for nearly 25 years. He has toured recently with bands like Virgin Steele, Riot, Al Pitrelli (O'2L) and others. Over the years he has traveled all across the country, and the world, mixing shows. But it is his dedication to the local Long Island music scene that he is most famous for. "I get to travel the world doing this work, in some of the worlds biggest venues, but my roots in the Long Island club scene is something I always return to. This is where future legends are born and I will always support that". John is known around the local music scene as a staunch supporter of local music, especially original music. And of course he is considered, bar none, to be the best soundguy in New York. And he's ours! Another member of our production staff is Darcy Wright . She has been mixing shows at this venue for several years now, studying under John. She has proven herself to be a very talented mixing engineer. She is a fine addition to our staff, and someone any musician can trust to do proper justice to their music. Darcy also is a singer/songwriter and will be hosting our new Open Mic Mondays. Steve Lagudi is another member of our staff who rounds out our capabilties. Steve has worked for such notable bands as Metallica, and others. In addition to his live mixing duties, he also provides our live multi-track recording facility. Steve is a graduate of the prestigous audio school SAE in New York. His knowledge of recording and post production techniques, and his dedication to perfection makes him an obvious choice to round out our very capable staff. |
